Take It All

Official Music Videos

Take It All is the fourth track on my Experiments EP and actually my favourite of the five!  It’s a song that I actually wrote about six years ago and never actually did anything with until last year.  I just had a feeling that the song needed to be heard and I’m so glad I listened to my gut as I love the finished result!

The lyrics of Take It All are all about breaking free and no longer being tied to someone who is holding you back.  It’s a song about determination, inner strength and bravery, but also about letting go.  To link with all these themes, we thought an intimate and simple approach to the video would work well, so as not to distract too much from the lyrics.  The close cropped and slow motion shots in the verses give the video an air of vulnerability, which is then contrasted against the fast paced chorus and drops to show the different emotions felt by myself when I was writing Take It All.  We used the different coloured versions of me layered on top of each other to give the effect that many personalities were fighting to escape from one body.

I am so happy with how the video for this track has turned out as I feel that it really does the song justice!  Please do check it out and like, share and comment if you enjoy it!

Deja Vu

Official Music Videos

The third track to be taken from my Experiments EP is Deja Vu!  Deja Vu is the most dancey and summery track on the EP, with a real tropical vibe!  One of the main aims when planning the concept for the video was to capture that summery influence in the visuals, whilst filming in a studio in February!  The way we achieved that was to take inspiration from the film Neon Demon and Demi Lovato’s ‘Cool For The Summer’ video in terms of lighting and makeup and then running with that to make it our own.  We used fluorescent tube lights to give that ‘clubby’ party effect and then in the drops amped that up further with EL (electro luminescent) wire.  I absolutely loved using the EL wire and tying it around my hands and clothes as I’m obsessed with neon things and it gave me the opportunity to switch on my light up trainers!

Deja Vu is a really upbeat and playful track in terms of production, but it was actually quite emotional for me to write.  The lyrics are about being let down by someone close to you and you realising that you have a pattern of trusting the wrong people.  It’s a song born out of frustration from being naïve and not noticing when you are being played for a fool.  It’s that feeling of being hurt but being mostly angry at yourself as you know you could have prevented it yourself by being a bit wiser! As the third song on the EP, Deja Vu is the ‘turning point’ in the narrative, when the character starts to fully realise how toxic the relationship is and let that anger and frustration show.

Poison

Official Music Videos

Poison is the second track on my Experiments EP, so it is the second video to be released!  Out of all the videos I filmed with Cosmic Joke Productions, this was probably the most fun to work on.  When planning the concept we wanted to incorporate the sparkle and colour of my branding into the visuals and the way we ended up doing this was with powder paint and glitter.  One of the most memorable parts of Poison is the drumbeat, so when they suggested I bang a drum I was so excited and thought it was perfect!

Poison is such a fun, catchy song that I thought it was really important to shoot a video that supported the track and was memorable and playful.  The song is about knowing you are crazy for being with someone who doesn’t treat you right and for loving them when they behave badly.  It follows on from the encounter in the first song on the EP ‘Lead Me Down’ as part of the running narrative on Experiments.

I absolutely love this track and the video, so check it out on YouTube below, and make sure you give the Experiments EP a listen; it is available to buy/stream now on iTunesSpotify, and all other major digital retailers.

New EP: Experiments – Sally Caitlin

Me and My Career

I’m so excited to announce that my new EP, Experiments, will be released on April 27th on all major digital retailers!  ‘Experiments’ will be comprised of five tracks, which I created with Mansfield-based ‘The Producers’, and will also include a bonus acoustic version of my single, Take It All.  I feel like this EP definitely sums up where I want to take the direction of my music and shows my range as a songwriter and an artist.

Experiments Cover

‘Experiments’ is essentially electronic pop, but my influences were very varied whilst I was writing, so there is a range of different moods and vibes on the EP.  As always, my main focus was on the lyrics, drawing inspiration from my own life to make them honest, raw and relatable.  There is a narrative that runs between the songs if the EP is listened to in order of the tracklist.  It tells the story of a character in a toxic relationship.  I have recently expanded on this narrative whilst recording my debut album, Chemistry, in order to fill in the blanks in the story and take the character further on their journey.

Due to the narrative aspect of the EP, I decided that all the tracks on ‘Experiments’ were all important and should, therefore, have a video each.  Whilst the videos don’t follow the narrative, they all draw inspiration from the lyrics in their respective songs and from the EP as a whole.  The videos will be released in order of the tracklist:

  1. Lead Me Down
  2. Poison
  3. Deja Vu
  4. Take It All
  5. You Are My Weakness
  6. Take It All (Acoustic Version)

with Lead Me Down being the only video that has currently been released, but the others will be following soon!

I cannot wait for Experiments to be released on April 27th and for everybody to get to hear it!  A lot of love and work has gone into all the songs on the EP, as well as the videos, so I am looking forward to as many people as possible listening to the story that I have to tell!  Listen to the singles, Take It All and Lead Me Down here!

Lead Me Down

Official Music Videos

Lead Me Down is the second single taken from my upcoming Experiments EP and is the first to get an official video.  This is definitely one of my favourite songs I have written and recorded as it feels really true to where I am in my life at the moment.  When I finished the EP, I realised that I had written a narrative running between the tracks because I had been writing about my own experiences.  For this reason I felt like all the songs were equally important and all should have videos to go with them.

The first two lines of ‘Lead Me Down’ are:

“The strobe lights flicker, lighting up your face,

I watch the patterns, watch the angles that the flashes trace.”

so when I was brainstorming ideas with the video production team, we decided it would be fun to play with lighting effects as the theme for Lead Me Down.  The video is centred around changes in lighting from strobes, to silhouettes and different colours.  The song is about meeting someone in a bar and knowing they are wrong for you but feeling like you want to be impulsive and ignore the voice of reason in your head.  The lyrics are about being reckless and doing something you know you shouldn’t do.  I think the video really captures the dark, sexy and mysterious vibe of the track and I’m extremely happy with the end result!

Check out the video on YouTube below, and Lead Me Down is available to buy/stream now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and all other major digital retailers
